With Christmas rapidly approaching it's easy to get lost in the shuffle of it all. While all of us owners are fathers, we wanted to help shift the focus from our own kids during this season, to those children in our communities that may not be as fortunate. That's why this week, Thursday through Sunday, we will give you a pint at $2 for your donation of a new toy.
I can recall to my own childhood of one of my most memorable Christmas' was back the early 1980's when I was around 6 years old or so. Unemployment was extremely high in Janesville around 21.7% (Highest in the Nation). Home loan rates were in excess of 13%. My father recalls there being only 7 ads in the paper for employment. Absolutely nobody was hiring. Our Christmas tree that year was one of our house plants. My siblings and I made paper Christmas decorations for the tree and around the house. I don't recall what I specifically got, but I do remember the "family gifts" of caramel corn and a fruit basket. I do recall the joy of having something to open and it being Christmas. It could have been the year I got the nerf Packers football. I'm sure my parents were stressed at what they felt being the lack of Christmas that they were able to provide their four kids. But to me the time we shared was best of all. I still had something to open.
While we are blessed to not be in the same position as adults, there are many who have fallen on hard times. While these parents struggle to make their way, their kids are affected and even more at Christmas. We ask for your help in spreading happiness this Holiday Season.
A couple weeks ago we donated Turkeys. Last week was our Echo Food drive which brought in a LOT of food. Last Sunday was the Santa Pub Crawl to support Project 16:49. Next week don't forget about the Holiday Food Drive and chance to Win a Kabota 900 RTV.
These are just a few ways you can help. Most importantly, we need to slow down and enjoy what opportunities, friends, and family we have around us.
Thank you for your support!!!
